Wilo Abdulle

Wilo Abdulle is a distinguished social protection and gender expert with a wealth of experience in human rights, gender equality, and community development. With over two decades of professional experience across Sweden, South Africa, and Somalia, Wilo brings extensive expertise in designing and conducting impactful research projects aimed at informing policy and promoting social justice.

Wilo’s career has encompassed various leadership roles within international organizations and social welfare offices, where she has excelled in fostering collaboration, mobilizing resources, and driving initiatives that empower marginalized communities. Her work has been instrumental in advancing human rights agendas and ensuring the protection of vulnerable populations. As a Senior Researcher for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (OHCHR), Wilo has spearheaded research initiatives to support Somalia’s human rights obligations, particularly in relation to social protection and the rights of persons with disabilities. Her work has been critical in shaping Somalia’s Social Protection Policy and ensuring the inclusion of disability rights in national frameworks. Wilo holds a Master’s Degree in Criminology from Gothenburg University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Stellenbosch University. Her academic background, combined with her extensive field experience, positions her as a leading advocate for human rights and gender equality.
