Second Session of the 2026 Youth Dialogue Series Convenes in Mogadishu
Balqiis Insights convened the second session of its 2026 Youth Dialogue Series in Mogadishu, bringing together emerging leaders, practitioners, and young professionals to reflect on the growing impact of climate change on communities across Somalia.
Under the theme “Youth at the Frontlines of Climate Action: Local Solutions for a Climate-Vulnerable Somalia,” the session created space to examine how local experiences can better inform climate response and adaptation strategies.
The discussion focused on the realities of climate vulnerability in Somalia, particularly recurring droughts, displacement, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. Participants stressed that effective responses must be grounded in local contexts and responsive to community needs.
Attention also turned to practical pathways for building resilience, including community-led adaptation, locally driven innovation, and stronger integration of youth into climate planning and decision-making processes. Participants emphasized the importance of linking policy efforts with grassroots action to ensure more durable outcomes.
The session highlighted the growing role of young people in shaping climate responses, not only as stakeholders but as contributors to practical solutions. Balqiis Insights continues to provide a platform that amplifies youth perspectives on Somalia’s environmental and development challenges.
